We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to join a well-established specialist school in Slough. This full-time, temporary-to-permanent position is ideal for someone passionate about supporting students with autism and related needs, including speech, language, sensory, and behavioural challenges.
Starting in January 2026, you will be working in a calm, structured environment with small class sizes and excellent staff-to-student ratios. The school embraces a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach, designing personalised learning pathways to help every pupil reach their full potential.
About the Role:
- Design and deliver tailored lessons for pupils with complex needs, with a focus on autism
- Implement structured routines and visual supports to enhance learning and communication
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and families to ensure holistic support
- Track and assess pupil progress in line with EHCP outcomes and personalised targets
- Utilise evidence-based approaches to foster emotional regulation and independent skills
- Establish a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
- Engage in ongoing professional development and actively contribute to whole-school improvement initiatives
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS), or an equivalent qualification
- Proven experience supporting children or young people with SEN, preferably within specialist settings
- Solid knowledge of autism and an awareness of related support strategies
- Demonstrates a calm, patient, and empathetic teaching style
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-focused approach
- Possess an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one
