DiabloRosso . This is a full-time Band 5 Occupational Therapist position based at the Derwent Unit in Chesterfield. The post is 37.5 hours per week, with shifts between 7am and 9pm on a rota that may include early and late shifts. Shift patterns can be discussed at recruitment.As a member of the Ward Occupational Therapy Team, you will work on an acute mental health unit and collaborate with the wider MDT and Hub based OTs to provide a therapeutic programme that supports activity and recovery. You will share skills and undertake tasks that support nursing roles and maximise service user engagement. This role requires adherence to the service’s recovery philosophy and the Model of Human Occupation, and involves support for discharge planning back into the community.Responsibilities

Provide occupational assessment and treatment using a range of interventions based on recovery principles and the Model of Human Occupation.Develop and deliver meaningful activity within individual and group settings in an occupation-focused approach.Work flexibly within the MDT to ensure safe and effective discharge planning and community reintegration.Promote person-centred care that respects gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, culture and spiritual needs.Maintain professional standards, develop the OT service on the ward for inpatients, and contribute to the OT care pathway based on evidence-based practice.Manage workload effectively, demonstrate initiative and creative problem-solving, and communicate with empathy and self-awareness.Adhere to legislative requirements relevant to occupational therapy and ensure safeguarding procedures are followed.Foster a respectful, inclusive environment and uphold Trust policies and equal opportunities.Qualifications and requirements

Registered Occupational Therapist with Health Professions Council (or equivalent) and ongoing professional development.Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team on an inpatient ward.Strong communication, empathy, self-reflection, and prioritisation skills.Commitment to recovery-focused practice and patient-centred care.Benefits
