JOB: TRANSPORT PLANNER

LOCATION: WOLVERHAMPTON

SALARY: Circa £37k

My client is seeking to appoint a permanent, experienced TRANSPORT PLANNER.

This is a full-time DAY position - Monday to Friday - 8am until 5pm

You will plan the HGV fleet in the most cost-effective way whilst adhering to driving laws and worktime directive legislation providing an on-time delivery solution for customers.

It is essential that you have:

• High computer literacy, preferably a sound knowledge of the Windows Operating Systems; Microsoft Office Applications; Planning and Tracking software.
• You must be able to demonstrate good numeracy skills and attention to detail
• You will have great communication skills, as you will be dealing with customers; transport department; drivers; and warehouse staff
• A professional, positive attitude is essential
• Training will be provided on internal systems
• Previous experience of planning large HGV fleets (in excess of 30) required
• Excellent geographical knowledge of the whole of the UK is required

This is a busy, exciting and varied role, which requires excellent attention to detail. 

You will dynamically plan all the HGV vehicles; monitor the LIVE plan to ensure resource is on time; liaise with Transport Controllers to confirm driver and asset availability (including sub-contractors); actively seek ways to reduce empty legs to ensure vehicle utilisation is maximised.
