An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established construction consultancy based in Nottingham.

This role offers the chance to take the lead on a variety of high-profile projects across the capital and wider region, managing cost and contract responsibilities while working closely with clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure successful outcomes. Our client is a respected consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering project management and cost consultancy services. Working across commercial, residential, public sector, and mixed-use developments, they pride themselves on providing practical solutions and building long-standing relationships with their clients.

With an expanding portfolio of work, they are now seeking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their Nottingham team.

Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take the lead on complex and high-value construction projects, ensuring robust cost management, procurement, and contractual control. You will act as a trusted advisor to clients, manage cost teams, and provide guidance to junior colleagues.

This role would suit a Senior Quantity Surveyor with strong consultancy experience, confident in handling multiple projects and building strong client relationships.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of the Senior Quantity Surveyor role include:

Leading cost planning, estimating, and budget management from inception to completion

Managing procurement processes, preparing tender documentation, and evaluating bids

Overseeing valuations, variations, and final accounts

Providing strategic cost advice and value engineering solutions to clients

Monitoring and reporting on project costs, risks, and financial performance

Advising on contract administration and compliance with legal/contractual obligations

Mentoring and supporting junior members of the cost management team

Delivering a high level of client service and stakeholder communication

Person

To be successful in this role, candidates should ideally have:

Proven experience delivering cost management services within a construction consultancy environment

Relevant degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management

Professional chartership (MRICS or working towards) preferred

Strong leadership, organisational, and analytical skills

Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills

Experience leading client meetings and managing key relationships

Ability to oversee multiple projects concurrently

A proactive, solutions-focused approach to cost management
