Long Term Futures are working with a specialist SEMH primary school in Leicester (LE8) seeking a dedicated and nurturing Class Teacher to join their team. The school supports pupils aged 5-11 with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing personalised education and strong pastoral support to help children overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes. We are looking for a resilient and compassionate individual who is committed to making a meaningful difference in the early development of young learners with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across the primary curriculum tailored to pupils with SEMH needs
- Build positive, trusting relationships to support behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies in line with the school''s SEMH approach
- Adapt learning to meet individual needs, including EHCP targets, and track pupil progress
- Work collaboratively with support staff, SENCOs, and external agencies to provide holistic support
- Create a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment that promotes wellbeing, inclusion, and personal development
What We''re Looking For
- A genuine passion for supporting children with SEMH needs and early intervention
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is preferred or equivalent teaching qualification
- Experience working with primary-aged pupils with SEMH, behavioural, or additional learning needs is highly desirable
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships
- Ability to deliver creative, engaging lessons that support both academic and social development
- Patient, resilient, and adaptable with a nurturing approach to teaching
- A proactive team player who works well with wider support networks
