An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered health professional to apply for a 12-month secondment for the role of Deputy Head of Healthcare based at HMP Birmingham. This role sits within our Offender Health Service which forms part of Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust. This involves delivering a model of integrated healthcare across partnership working with Birmingham Community Health Care (BCHC) and Cranstoun.BSMHFT is one of the largest providers of secure care and offender health services in the country. Alongside working for BSMHFT, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with neighbouring organisations to ensure a comprehensive package of care is delivered to our service users. The post holder will embrace multi-disciplinary working and work as a key member of the MDT; you will also be required to represent the service at key forums and meetings. You will provide professional leadership and management to all staff within the teams that make up the Prison Healthcare service, manage and coordinate staff and clinical activity, and have overall responsibility for the professional development and supervision of practice. You will provide specialist practical advice on care and clinical management of service users and support staff, other agencies and other statutory services to provide integrated services to enable improved health and well-being outcomes for service users.Organisational context and ethos

You will need a sound knowledge of the national legislation relating to prison services and mental health. The role requires excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
