Senior Engineering Manager

It’s a chance to lead a high-impact group of engineers across two strategic pillars within our Infrastructure and Engineering organization – K8 Platform and DevopsJoining our team, you’ll work with world class and passionate people to own and shape the direction of a significant area of value, whilst operating across multiple domains, defining contexts and boundaries and articulating why behavior should live in each context.About this role?You will be responsible to lead teams that design and operate scalable, reliable and secure Infrastructure on both Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure, while driving forward the architectural evolution and modernisation of our hosting platforms. You’ll champion reliability, scalability, automation and innovation to ensure dunnhumby continues to deliver world-class infrastructure capabilities that empowers our product teams and support our strategic ambitions.The capabilities we require:Define and evolve the Kubernetes platform strategy across GCP and Azure : Lead the hosting squad in shaping the technical roadmap, including cross-cluster connectivity, service mesh integration, and multi-tenant platform evolutionDrive cost optimization and platform efficiency : Collaborate with FinOps and platform teams to implement node pool optimization strategies (e.g., N2D/E2 migration), improve workload placement, and reduce cloud spend through smarter autoscaling and resource tuningOversee the evolution of our products on multi-tenant hosting platform across GCP and AzureShape architectural decisions related to Kubernetes, Service meshes, API, etc.Drive innovation initiatives, evaluating emerging technologies and integrating them into our roadmapLead squad of developer tooling to ensure positive adoption of services across the boardObservability strategy, including metrics, logging, tracing and alerting of our K8 environmentsChampion automation-first approaches to incident response, service recovery, and environment provisioningCollaborate with product and platform teams to embed hosting strategy and practices across the organisationPartner with Product, Security, Platform and wider stakeholders to ensure secure, optimised, and compliant architecture across K8 infrastructureProvide technical oversight and mentorship to Lead Engineers and Platform TeamsWhat we’re looking for?Deep understanding of cloud-native infrastructure, preferably GCP and AzureStrong architectural background in scalable systems, IaC and KubernetesExperience building or leading multi-tenant platforms and enabling platform-as-a-product strategiesProven experience in managing high-performing engineering teams in global environmentsStrong communicator and influencer, able to drive alignment across squads, domains and senior stakeholdersStrategic mindset with ability to define technical roadmap aligned to business prioritiesWhat you can expect from usWe won’t just meet your expectations.
