Mechanical Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced and driven Mechanical Project Manager based in the Home Counties to oversee the successful delivery of mechanical works across a variety of UK-wide construction and building services projects. This role is ideal for a technically skilled and well-organised individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is confident leading project teams from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Execution

Lead the full lifecycle of mechanical projects from planning through to completion

Review technical specifications and client requirements to develop accurate scopes, budgets, and timelines

Coordinate with internal teams to align drawings, procurement, and delivery schedules

Maintain project programmes and provide regular updates to clients and stakeholders

Manage project variations, RFIs, and site instructions
Technical Oversight and Compliance

Oversee installation and commissioning of HVAC, plumbing, and pipework systems to specification and regulation

Ensure quality control and resolve technical issues with engineers and subcontractors
-
Maintain compliance with health & safety legislation, CDM regulations, and company procedures

Produce and manage technical documentation such as RAMS, O&M manuals, and commissioning records
Health and Safety

Prepare and review comprehensive Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)

Conduct regular site audits, lead safety briefings, and toolbox talks
-
Investigate incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented

Maintain accurate health and safety documentation and liaise with HSE representatives
Team and Subcontractor Management

Manage site teams and subcontractors to ensure clear communication and effective delivery

Conduct site inspections and coordination meetings to monitor progress and address issues early

Support and mentor junior engineers or supervisors as required
Client and Stakeholder Communication

Act as the main point of contact for clients on mechanical aspects of the project

Provide updates, technical guidance, and issue resolution

Collaborate with consultants, contractors, and internal departments to meet overall project goals
Procurement and Cost Control

Support the procurement of mechanical materials and subcontractors

Monitor project budgets and work with the commercial team on valuations and final accounts
Key Skills & Experience

Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services and relevant regulations

Proven track record of managing mechanical projects in construction or MEP environments

Excellent leadership and organisational skills

Deep understanding of health and safety and regulatory compliance
-
Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office; experience with Simpro is an advantage
-
High attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
-
Strong communication skills with a professional approach
-
Must be based in the Home Counties and willing to travel to project sites across the UK
