Section Engineer

Our client, a leading UK multi-disciplinary engineering specialist, is looking for an experienced and dedicated Section Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis in Scotland. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of complex and high-profile civil engineering projects, with a particular focus on large-scale rail infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Management and Supervision: Lead, manage, and motivate a team of site engineers and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and support on-site, interpreting complex drawings and specifications to set out and check works. Ensure all engineering activities comply with design requirements and construction standards.
Health and Safety: Uphold and enforce the highest standards of health and safety on site. Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and toolbox talks to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.
Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor quality control procedures. Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to ensure all work is executed to the required specifications and standards.
Project Planning & Reporting: Collaborate with the Site Manager to develop and manage project schedules and resource plans. Prepare and submit accurate and timely reports on project progress, variations, and issues.
Stakeholder Communication: Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, and other stakeholders to resolve technical queries and ensure smooth project delivery.
Candidate Requirements
Education: A degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience: Proven experience as a Section Engineer on civil engineering projects, with a strong background in earthworks, structures, or infrastructure.
Technical Skills: Proficient in setting out and the use of surveying equipment. Competent in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
Leadership: Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage and mentor a team.
Health and Safety: Strong knowledge of UK health and safety regulations, with a valid CSCS card.
Location: Willingness to work on projects across Scotland. A full UK driving license is essential.
