We''re supporting a growing battery technology company in hiring a Battery Product Engineer to help develop and optimise porous silicon anode materials for real lithium-ion cells. This hands-on role sits at the intersection of materials science, electrochemistry, and product engineering, working closely with R&D teams to translate advanced material properties into high-performance electrodes and cells.
 
The Battery Product Engineer will:

• Prepare electrodes and assemble lithium-ion test cells.
• Design and run experiments to evaluate electrode formulations and cell performance.
• Analyse electrochemical data (capacity, CE, degradation trends) to identify improvement paths.
• Support optimisation of electrode formulation, processing, and cell architecture.
• Collaborate with electrochemistry, materials, and process engineering teams.
• Document results, report insights, and contribute to technical development and IP.

 
The Battery Product Engineer will have:

• 2-5 years'' experience in battery materials, cell development, or electrochemistry.
• Hands-on experience with lithium-ion cell assembly and electrochemical testing.
• Strong knowledge of electrode formulation, cell design, and performance metrics.
• Ability to interpret experimental data and translate it into actionable improvements.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced R&D or start-up environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

 
Desirables - It would be beneficial if you also have:

• Experience with silicon anodes, porous materials, or advanced electrode designs.
• Exposure to DOE, modelling, or data-driven optimisation.
• Experience in early-stage, high-growth tech environments.
