Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: As an integral member of the Nephrology Program, the Registered Nurse is highly skilled and responsible for supporting a system that delivers person-centred, safe and effective kidney care services in an efficient, equitable and timely manner. The successful candidate will be responsive to the staffing needs within in-center hemodialysis at Oshawa, Whitby and Lakeridge Gardens. As the program continues to achieve deliverables under the Ontario Renal Network (ORN) and strives to achieve the targets of the Ontario Renal Plan, the registered nurse will provide excellence in patient care, maintain competency and professionalism relevant to dialysis practice and work collaboratively in the context of an interprofessional nephrology team.Qualifications
Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing)Demonstrated commitment to maintaining Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the CNOCurrent B.C.L.SBScN is preferredMinimum 2 years of experience with providing care for renal patients in Acute Care settings (emergency department, acute inpatient units, critical care) is requiredRecent hemodialysis experience is strongly preferredNephrology Nursing certificate preferred or evidence of enrollment or progression towards completionFamiliar and comfortable with electronic documentationMust have Level 2 training to provide treatment to patients 1:1 that are acute hospitalized inpatients, patients admitted in the emergency department or admitted in the critical care departmentDemonstrated good organizational, interpersonal, communication skills both written and verbal; problem-solving, prioritization and teaching skillsDemonstrated ability to perform appropriately in emergency situationsProven ability to perform a leadership/preceptorship rolePhysically capable of performing the duties of the position in order to lift, turn, and transfer patients manually and with mechanical aidsSatisfactory performance recordDemonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health''s comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff, patient, and environmental safety, and participation in regular in-service education in this areaDemonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and JoyConditions of Employment
