Technical Estimator- Aberdeen The Role The successful candidate will support the fabrication, welding and machining activities by preparing accurate cost estimates, liaising with clients and suppliers, and assisting in the preparation of quotations. This is an excellent opportunity to help shape a new role within a growing engineering environment. Responsibilities Interpret engineering drawings in metric and imperial units. Prepare accurate estimates for fabrication, welding and machining work. Carry out material take-offs and calculate material requirements. Estimate labour and machining hours. Contact suppliers for pricing on materials and subcontract services. Liaise with clients to clarify scope and technical requirements. Prepare professional quotations and assist with follow-up discussions. Work with engineering and production teams to ensure smooth job handover. Requirements Experience in an estimating or technical role within engineering, fabrication or machining. Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings (metric and imperial). Knowledge of welding processes, machining methods, tolerances and materials. Ability to calculate material weights, allowances and cutting lists. Strong communication skills with clients, suppliers and internal teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP experience beneficial. Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
