OverviewAn opportunity has arisen for a
Junior Data Protection Advisor
to join our Bird and Bird Privacy Solutions team. You will support outsourced data protection officer and GDPR representative services for a diverse group of clients, advising on a broad range of data protection compliance matters including GDPR adherence, data breaches, records of processing activities and data transfer challenges. You will also support other privacy consultancy activities, including GDPR Representative services. Ideally candidates will have exposure to sectors such as Media, Entertainment and Sports, and Tech and Comms; additional experience in Healthcare, Financial Services, or Aviation and Defence is advantageous.
What You’ll Do
Work with the Managing Director and across our international network to provide outsourced DPO services, GDPR Representative services, and other privacy consultancy services to a broad range of clients.
Project management of small to medium engagements.
Production and review of deliverables.
Build experience in data protection across many clients and industries.
Develop strong and lasting client relationships.
Liaise with fee earners from other disciplines and jurisdictions as required.
Support business development and identify new opportunities.
Contribute to the upkeep of the group (training, precedents, know-how).
Essential
Experience and understanding of data protection work in a comparable environment.
Recognised data privacy qualification (e.g. CIPP/E, CIPP/M, or equivalent).
Outstanding academics and fluency in English; additional European language is a plus.
Excellent communications skills.
Experience and interest in developing strong, lasting client relationships.
Flexibility to support cases across a broad range of data protection issues and multiple clients.
Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
Ability to manage aspects of complex matters and clients.
Understanding of organisations, business models, processes, and ability to identify non-compliance and suggest improvements.
Up-to-date knowledge of key areas of UK and EU data protection regulations, with ability to provide clear, practical summaries. Knowledge of regulations beyond the UK/EU is advantageous.
