Senior Mechanical Design Engineers (Water)

for major long-term frameworks across the UK, including a £100 million framework with United Utilities to improve river health in the Northwest of England.RPS has over 20 years of collaboration with United Utilities. As we approach AMP8, this is an exciting time for the water industry, offering opportunities to create positive change.Under this 10-year framework, RPS will optimize programs, develop solutions, and select the best options based on value, carbon footprint, and cost. Our goal is to deliver exceptional water services for a resilient and eco-friendly Northwest.About The Team:

RPS Water Consulting comprises Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts providing Asset Management and Operational Strategy support to water industry clients. We work on innovative projects requiring dedication and teamwork.We also collaborate with other major UK water companies through long-term frameworks, leading into AMP9 and beyond, offering long-term career stability.About You:

You should have experience in producing technical outputs like specifications, pump and aeration system designs, schedules, and reports. Familiarity with collaborative planning, design reviews, and safety assessments (HAZOPs, ALMs) is essential.You will contribute to design outputs, including General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models, and PandID diagrams, and have strong communication skills for client presentations and team discussions.Understanding water and wastewater treatment processes and experience assessing site infrastructure are necessary.Joining us means working on impactful projects with leading organizations, making a positive difference in communities, and leaving a lasting legacy in the water industry.Your Responsibilities:

Work on various projects across UK frameworks.Support project delivery with senior engineers and stakeholders.Mentor junior team members.Understand technical drawings with AutoCAD or Inventor.Undertake asset surveys and prepare reports.Contribute to PandID creation.Prepare mechanical design deliverables: calculations, reports, specifications, drawings.Support project compliance with CDM regulations and produce risk assessments.Follow Quality Assurance procedures.Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles.Experience in the water industry is advantageous.Knowledge of pump design, PandID creation, specifications, and safety regulations.Familiarity with contract procurement methods, including NEC.Ability to manage time, costs, and quality.Support junior staff development.Willingness to travel and inspect sites, operate equipment, and witness tests.Experience with AutoCAD or similar software is a plus.Qualifications:

IMechE accredited degree; postgraduate qualifications are a plus.Chartered status or working towards it.Membership or in the process of joining a professional body like IET, InstMC, or CIWEM.What’s in it for you?
