Principal Data Science Consultant – Gen AI Specialist

– Join EPAM Systems. We are expanding our Data Practice across Europe to meet the growing demand for cutting-edge Generative AI (Gen AI) and advanced data solutions. We are seeking an experienced Data Science Consultant with a strong focus on Gen AI applications, particularly within the Consumer Packaged Goods and Retail (CPGR) industry. In this role, you will leverage your AI expertise to design, deploy and optimize Gen AI solutions tailored to CPGR challenges and opportunities. You will collaborate with clients to understand business needs, deliver impactful AI-driven solutions and unlock growth opportunities.Responsibilities

Partner with CPGR clients to define and execute Gen AI strategies that align with business goalsDesign and implement innovative AI-driven products, including customer personalization tools, demand forecasting systems and dynamic pricing solutionsLead the development, deployment and monitoring of Gen AI/ML models with a focus on MLOps and operational scalabilityEstablish and oversee AI governance frameworks to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, ethical practices and measurable business valueLeverage Gen AI technologies, including LLMs and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), to address CPGR challenges such as supply chain optimization, inventory management and consumer engagementCommunicate AI strategies, opportunities and risks effectively with senior executives and cross-functional teamsEnsure AI solutions are fair, explainable and aligned with responsible AI practicesWork with legal and compliance teams to navigate industry regulations, including the EU AI Act and their impact on Gen AI in CPGRStay ahead of industry trends, emerging Gen AI technologies and evolving regulatory landscapesContribute to pre-sales activities, including client presentations, product demos and responses to RFPs/RFIsRequirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics or a related field; Ph.D. is a plusExtensive experience in data science roles with demonstrable impact in the CPGR sector. IT consulting experience is highly desirableExpertise in Gen AI, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and RAG-based solution approachesStrong understanding of AI/ML tools and platforms such as Azure, AWS, GCP, Databricks, MLFlow and StreamlitProficiency in Python and experience with frameworks like Airflow, Plotly Dash or similar toolsDeep understanding of CPGR challenges, including supply chain dynamics, consumer behavior analytics and retail-specific AI applicationsProven track record of implementing responsible AI practices, addressing bias and ensuring model explainabilityStrong communication skills with the ability to translate complex AI concepts into actionable insights for senior business leadersFamiliarity with the EU AI regulatory framework and other relevant compliance standardsWe offer
