Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Physiotherapist with proven clinical and leadership skills to join the Wandsworth Learning Disability Physiotherapy Team at Southwest London and St Georges Mental Health NHS Trust. You will be joining a friendly community multidisciplinary team that will allow you to explore your full potential as a leader and highly specialised clinician. This role is for working with adults aged 18 years and older with learning disabilities, across both Physical Health and Mental Health Learning Disability pathways.You will be involved in physiotherapy specialties including Musculoskeletal, Neurology, Respiratory, and care for Older People, with duties that include postural management and dysphagia management.ResponsibilitiesUndertake advanced, holistic physiotherapy assessments and formulate comprehensive treatment plans for service users with learning disabilities, with or without mental health considerations.

Perform musculoskeletal, neurological, and respiratory assessments and clinically reason your decisions.

Involve in 24-hour postural management, dysphagia management, mobility assessments, falls prevention, and developing and reviewing exercise programmes.

Deliver assessments and interventions in community settings including client homes, supported living facilities, registered care homes, and community day services.

Take on a leadership role within the team, assisting with organising and delivering in-service training, supervision, and service development projects with support from the Head of Physiotherapy and Deputy Team Lead.

Leadership and Professional DevelopmentJoin the Mental Health Physiotherapy team for monthly in-service training sessions and contribute to Learning Disability Physiotherapy Team in-service training sessions.

Actively participate in Physiotherapy Development forums led by the Head of Physiotherapy.

Qualifications and RequirementsEssential: high level of physiotherapy experience through rotations at Band 5 and 6 in various physiotherapy specialties including learning disabilities.

Ability to work in community settings with fluctuating demand; highly organised and self-motivated.
