BR Principal Designer
I am working with an award-winning architecture firm who are seeking an experienced and design-led BR Principal Designer to join their London team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly respected architecture practice known for its outstanding portfolio, collaborative culture, and recognition as one of the best companies to work for.
You will play a key role in delivering compliance with Building Regulations across a diverse range of high-quality projects, while working closely with design teams to ensure safety and compliance are integrated seamlessly into the design process.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the Principal Designer under Building Regulations across a range of projects, including higher-risk buildings
- Lead compliance through Gateway 2
- Oversee and manage the Golden Thread of information, ensuring accurate, structured, and accessible data and information throughout the project lifecycle
- Coordinate and review design information to demonstrate compliance with Building Regulations
- Collaborate closely with architects, consultants, and clients to integrate compliance into design solutions
- Advise on dutyholder responsibilities under the Building Safety Act
About You
- Proven experience as a BR Principal Designer, Senior Design Manager or Architect
- Background in architecture, design or building control
- In-depth knowledge of UK Building Regulations and associated legislation
- Strong understanding of design processes and the ability to influence design decisions
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and confident in leading compliance discussions
- Relevant professional accreditation or working towards certification
- Experience working on HRBs is preferable
