It is important and rewarding work, supporting one of Defence’s highest priorities. The Directorate is responsible for assessing the applications of Afghans who still wish to relocate to the UK, enabling the relocation of those eligible, and directing and cohering all of the relocation and resettlement activity across the Defence enterprise. Teams work in lockstep with a number of Departments across Whitehall to ensure the relocation and resettlement of eligible Afghans. This role is at HEO grade, and is for a Data Assurance Manager, with special responsibility for Data Protection impact assessment and internal risk, however there is a substantial amount of cross with the HEO Data Protection and Share Manager, and it is envisaged that a collegiate approach will be maintained. This role will act as joint Local Data Protection Adviser for DARR, which includes breach investigation, with recourse to the DARR Principal Data Protection Adviser. For a full outline of duties please refer to the TORs for each role: Data Protection and Assurance Manager. This is a unique opportunity for professional development in the Data Protection area. The role is often challenging and stretching, and the successful candidate will benefit from joining a supportive team of Subject Matter Experts in an environment where continuous learning and on the job training are encouraged and trust is given to the right people to make the right decisions. If you have no Data Protection experience but do have demonstrable experience of interpreting UK legislation into a work environment, making decisions and demonstrating reasons for these decisions this job may still be for you.
