Our Professional Services team acts as a trusted technical partner on client journeys. You will be both teacher and pillar of support, with in-depth, technical understanding of the Synthace platform to maximize value, drive adoption of the software, the Design of Experiments (DOE) methodology, and automation.As a Field Application Scientist II, you will be the clients\'' go-to expert in automation and DOE, helping them maximize benefits of Synthace by guiding them through configuration, adoption, and optimization. You will:Partner with clients to configure their software and liaise with IT teams to embed Synthace into their digital ecosystem and scientific labs.Engage clients in improving adoption of automation, particularly with dispensers (such as SPT Dragonfly, Beckman Coulter Echo, Formulatrix Mantis, Gyger Certus Flex).Meet with client scientists to discuss experimental details, understand pain points, and identify needs.Translate customer protocols and experiments into Synthace workflows and present them with clear communication of the platform’s functionality.Provide technical troubleshooting support for clients using the Synthace platform.Train and consult with clients on the most valuable use of Synthace to address experimental goals, with emphasis on DOE methodology and automation.Support clients during DOE execution and guide best practices with automation.Assist clients with data analysis and model fitting, helping develop statistically valid models and identify key trends.Produce summary reports of DOE campaign results, including documentation of optimized factor ranges.Contribute to improving internal resources (e.g., training materials, videos) and established processes within the team.Share knowledge with sales, marketing, product, and engineering teams; act as a technical expert externally and internally.Occasionally support product testing and feature release efforts.Act as subject matter expert for the sales team, including pre-sales support and occasional customer demos and conference attendance.Qualifications and skills
We are looking for someone who can convey complex concepts simply, loves problem-solving with limited information, and proactively learns new things. The essential requirements and characteristics for a successful Field Application Scientist II are:A STEM PhD in a relevant field (e.g., biological sciences, cell biology, drug discovery) with 1 year of industry experience, or a Master\''s degree with 3 years of industry experience.Hands-on wet lab experience in relevant areas (cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, assay development, drug discovery).Understanding of life science methodologies, particularly drug discovery and assay development.Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) methodology and DOE campaign phases (Screening, Optimization, Robustness and Validation).Ability to analyze and interpret DOE data using statistical tools such as JMP or the Synthace platform.Strong communication skills and ability to act as an expert in the room.Proven ability to work independently and proactively seek resources.Analytical, data-driven mindset with motivation to tackle difficult technical problems.High initiative and a solution-focused attitude with ability to prioritise multiple demands.Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate across functions.Confidence to challenge conventions and drive improvements.Nice to have
Knowledge of laboratory automation hardware and software, especially dispensers (SPT Dragonfly, Beckman Coulter Echo, Formulatrix Mantis, Gyger Certus Flex).Experience in field roles with client/user-facing support or applications.Previous experience in a scientific software or hardware company, or startup experience.Experience with assay development or drug discovery.Experience with liquid handlers (e.g., Tecan EVO, Tecan Fluent, Hamilton Star).Working at Synthace
Travel expectations:
This role includes travel up to -40% of your time, mainly in the UK, Europe, and the US.
