Housing Support Worker or Night Concierge (Young Person Supported Housing)
Location: Gloucester, Cheltenham, or Stroud
Salary: £12.60 per hour PAYE + £1.59 per hour holiday pay
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (day shifts of night shifts available)
Contract Type: Temporary (with potential for permanent opportunities)
Overview:
BRC are currently recruiting for Support Workers to work for a well-established charity supporting young care leavers to prepare to transition toward living independently. The roles involve working in supported accommodation, providing housing-based support to young people aged 16-24.
Whilst on a temporary contract there is flexibility over which days of the week you work but you would work 37.5 hours per week on either early, late, or nights shifts:
- Early Shift: 07:45 - 15:45
- Late Shift 12:15 – 20:15
- Night Shift 20:00 – 08:00
- Responsible for key-working a caseload of young people.
- Undertake initial and continuous assessment of needs, potential risks and agree levels of support and actions to professional standards.
- Support young people with benefits applications such as UC & PIP.
- Preparing young people to maintain their own tenancies and to develop the skills necessary for independent living.
- Supporting young people with the move-on process, helping them with housing applications etc.
- Support young people to access other services including CMHT, substance misuse agencies and/or work in partnership with other agencies as part of the support planning process.
- Support young people to maintain activities including but not limited to education, employment, training, informal accreditation and volunteering opportunities.
- Promote young people to develop social skills, positive and healthy relationships and keep safe in a variety of settings.
- Engage young people to place their voice, aspirations, and interests at the heart of service delivery Promoting inclusion, equality, diversity, and community cohesion.
- Positively support customers to understand their child’s development in line with best practice guidance.
In order to get started on a temporary contract you will require an enhanced DBS on the update service.
- A car driver with access to a car is preferable.
- The ability to engage and build strong relationships with people
- A non-judgemental mindset and an understanding of the impacts of homelessness, substance misuse, family breakdown, domestic abuse, and trauma
- Experience in support work or housing, with an understanding of housing options, housing law and basic benefits
