Cygnet Hospital Woking . This is a 60 bed hospital which offers a range of secure mental health services for men and women, an acute female service, and a female PICU. Cygnet Lodge Woking, our sister hospital close by, offers a high dependency inpatient rehabilitation service and an acute service for men, extending our care pathways.
This role is based on
Greenacre Ward ,
our 18 bed male Low Secure service . The service provides a safe and secure environment for men with a range of needs and care pathways. The unit operates within the Kent Surrey Sussex Adult Secure Provider Collaborative, but can also accept patients from elsewhere.
In this role, your expertise will be the driving force for life-changing treatment – fully supported by a full-time Specialty Doctor and first-class multidisciplinary team.
The applicant is also invited to consider taking on the role of Deputy Medical Director at the Woking site. This represents a good opportunity to progress to Medical Director level through our management schemes.

Your role responsibilities…
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT)
Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in conjunction with the MDT
Assess referrals and undertake mental state examinations of service users
Undertake appropriate investigations, diagnosis and treatment
Participate in ward rounds and clinical audits
Lead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management and embed clinical governance
Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals and managers’ hearings and attend hearings
Participate in the 1 in 7 telephone second on-call rota

We are looking for someone who is...
Fully GMC Registered on the Specialist Register for Forensic Psychiatry or General Adult Psychiatry and MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
Approved Clinician Status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
Approved under S12 or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
Experienced and knowledgeable in Forensic or General Adult Psychiatry
Knowledgeable of current issues in Forensic or General Adult Psychiatry and the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity
A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess and treat patients and write clear, comprehensive medical notes
Committed to continued professional development
Has actively participated in clinical audit and quality improvement programmes
Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent
Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
