Senior Quantity Surveyor

Manchester.The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for:Management and delivery of QS services – fee earning projectsThe co-ordination, management, and development of the more junior members of staffSupport, develop and improve the professional and interpersonal skills of the teamEnsure staff are aware of, and are delivering, their responsibilitiesEnsure clients always receive an exemplary level of service and performance from yourself and the teamAlways represent the company in a professional and confident mannerThe role of a Senior Quantity Surveyor includes the following responsibilities:Confident and skilled in the understanding and use of various contracts (as a minimum NEC C JCT), identify unacceptable terms and conditions and negotiate suitable alternatives.Understand and have experience in the review and agreement of contract terms and conditions ensuring Legal governance is adhered to at all times.Be experienced in full commercial contract administration from tender to final account.Experienced in the procurement and negotiation process associated with a project and subsequent supply chain management.Complete cost and value reconciliations along with the forecasting on a monthly basis for all projects.Manage the Risk and Opportunity processes, ensuring mitigation measures are identified and implemented at the correct time to benefit the project.With the support of the Directors and SMT, assume responsibility for the servicing of clients.Ensure that the company standards are adhered to on all works undertaken.Ensure the successful delivery of contracts you and your responsible staff are dealing with, in a timely manner and to the highest standards.Be a visible public face of the business as appropriate.Key Attributes:The ability to –Have suitable experience of undertaking QS dutiesMake informed decisions for the benefit of our clientsDemonstrate commercial negotiation skills in a Quantity Surveying settingBe energetic, self-motivated and able to take a flexible and adaptable approachBe passionate and driven to succeedExhibit demonstrable leadership and motivational qualitiesBe commercially astute and numerateBe well organised and able to plan effectively.Present and report information in a clear and concise mannerPossess clear and concise communication skills – written and spokenAble to produce both summarised and detailed reportsBe IT literate, especially in terms of Microsoft Office/ExcelQualifications/Skills:Degree qualified (or working towards) in Quantity Surveying or similar technical disciplineWorking towards Chartered status (Preferred)A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the construction industryPreviously employed by a consultancy or end user clientBe a team player, outgoing, flexible, enthusiastic and ambitiousHave a likeable and warm personality which will fit in and become an integral part of the teamHave a track record of working with teams and managing projects by prioritising workloads and delivering deadlinesCumming Management Group
