The Lecturer in Health and Social Care is expected to design, develop and deliver teaching in a variety of learning environments and using various teaching styles, including undergraduate study and, where appropriate, postgraduate study. The post holder will develop teaching and assessment materials covering specified modules and subject areas within Health and Social Care and/or Public Health. Modules may include Public Health, Epidemiology, Digital Health Promotion, Quality Assurance in Health and Social Care, Partnership Working and Service Integration in Health and Social Care Systems, Mental Health, Ageing, Physiology and Psychology. The post holder will work across Certificate, Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes and contribute to students’ learning.The staff will offer both academic and pastoral feedback and support to students to the highest professional standards and with regard to the ongoing enhancement of the student experience. The hours for this role are 2.5 days per week including the weekend and one other day.
Main duties
Offer teaching and student support at undergraduate and postgraduate level of study
Provide teaching in a variety of learning settings, from seminars and small group tutorials to large lectures, workshops or placements
Design and develop teaching materials, assessment methods and criteria for modules within a specific subject area, with awareness of quality assurance requirements
Supervise the work of students in a timely, professional and supportive manner, providing necessary advice
Offer appropriate advice, feedback, support and encouragement to students in both academic and personal tutor roles
Undertake relevant scholarly and research activity
Engage in continuing professional development and enhancement
Requirements
Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Public Health, Epidemiology, Digital Health Promotion, Quality Assurance in Health and Social Care, Partnership Working and Service Integration in Health and Social Care Systems)
Experience in teaching, delivery, assessment and student support at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in UK Higher Education (HE)
Experience in teaching and supporting students from diverse backgrounds
Experience in the design and development of module content, learning material and assessments
Demonstrable organisational and personal management skills
Interpersonal and communication skills with evidence of teamwork and teaching
IT proficiency and experience of using e-resources
Ability to balance teaching, scholarship, research, administrative demands and deadlines
