Pay Range: andpound;165 andndash; andpound;245 per day (depending on experience)
Working Hours: 8:00 am andndash; 4:00 pm



Overview

A specialist SEN school in Southampton is seeking a dedicated and resilient Maths Teacher to join their team as soon as possible. This full-time role involves teaching small groups of secondary-aged students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour, in a highly supportive and nurturing environment.

You will be delivering engaging and differentiated Maths lessons up to GCSE level, with class sizes typically ranging from 4 to 5 students, supported by a skilled Teaching Assistant. The position runs until July 2026, with the potential for the role to continue beyond this period for the right candidate.



Responsibilities


  • Plan and deliver Maths lessons that are engaging, differentiated, and tailored to meet the needs of learners with SEMH and behavioural challenges.
  • Create a positive, structured classroom environment that supports both academic and emotional development.
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants and the wider SEN team to provide consistent support and interventions.
  • Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and provide regular feedback to pupils and staff.
  • Use restorative and trauma-informed approaches to manage behaviour effectively and encourage positive relationships.
  • Contribute to the wider school community and participate in meetings, reviews, and CPD opportunities.

Requirements


  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) andndash; applications from unqualified teachers or instructors with strong SEN experience will also be considered.
  • Experience teaching Maths at KS3 and KS4 level.
  • Experience or interest in working with students with SEMH and challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent behaviour management and communication skills.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, with a genuine desire to support studentsandrsquo; progress and wellbeing.
