As demand for our expertise grows, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Wastewater Process Engineer to join our Water Engineering teams located in Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool, London, Newcastle or Glasgow.

What you will doWorking within multidisciplinary project design teams, you will take a key role in the delivery of the process engineering design content on a range of challenging projects in water engineering, including wastewater and water reuse projects throughout the UK and overseas. You will contribute to the project design from feasibility and optioneering through to production of detailed designs for procurement and construction and review of supplier proposals. You will work with project teams to deliver effective and professional services for a range of clients.

Key Responsibilities Include

Produce Process Design deliverables such as optioneering studies; process calculations, mass balance, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation drawings, sketches, basis of design reports, etc., to achieve the optimum solution for the project.

Undertake outline or detailed process engineering design.

Attend site visits for data acquisition and to meet site operators.

Provide technical input to the procurement process.

Support Project Managers in technical discussions with clients.

Liaise with technology providers and vendors.

Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, SWIFT.

Provide technical guidance, coaching and supervision of junior staff.

Collaborate with other disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects to deliver on time, within budget and to the required quality, ensuring integration of Process Engineering design.

Contribute to proposals, scope definition, schedules and budgets.

Liaise with clients (internal or external) to understand and meet their needs.

Qualifications

A Chemical or Environmental Engineering degree or MSc (or equivalent).

Professional registration as CEng (or working towards Chartered status within 12 months).

Skills and Experience

Significant experience delivering process engineering design for infrastructure projects, including leading a process engineering role on a project or major task.

Experience in the municipal water industry.

Ability to work mostly unsupervised in preparing and/or reviewing process design package deliverables (technical specs, calculations, reports, datasheets, schedules, PandIDs, mass balances and procurement documentation).

Experience delivering studies, feasibility, concept designs, FEED and detailed design in wastewater treatment solutions in municipal or industrial sectors (e.g., primary, secondary, tertiary treatments such as filtration, chemical dosing, phosphorus removal, ASP, MBBR, MBR, and other advanced biological treatments).

Understanding of circular economy, Zero Liquid Discharge, and emerging tertiary treatments in municipal and industrial sectors.

Experience in a consultancy environment or engineering company as a Process Engineer.

Proven ability to prepare high-quality written technical reports and deliver presentations to a high standard for diverse audiences.

Confident, articulate communicator with ability to engage in professional verbal communications and presentations to colleagues, clients and subcontractors.

Experience leading multi-disciplinary meetings and representing the organisation with external clients.

Willing and able to travel and visit operational works and construction sites as required, to act safely and assess process performance.
