Job DescriptionA leading UK-based rail freight and logistics operator is seeking a Diesel Locomotive Production Support Engineer to join their engineering team. This company operates across ports and inland terminals throughout the UK and Europe, with a reputation in Intermodal and Heavy Haul freight services.You will provide technical support for a diesel locomotive fleet, reporting to the Fleet Engineer. Your role involves reviewing and improving technical performance and maintenance policies to enhance fleet reliability and safety.Key responsibilities include:Ensuring safety standards are met and risks are managed.Monitoring reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness of the locomotive fleets.Identifying technical improvements and ensuring compliance with change processes.Collaborating on Asset Management Plans to optimize safety, availability, and lifecycle costs.Reviewing and developing maintenance practices per industry standards.Implementing fleet modifications to improve performance.Providing performance reports for the Return of Service Experience process.Recommending corrective actions for deficiencies.Leading projects to improve reliability and reduce costs.Participating in on-call support for incidents and site visits.Experience required:Solid engineering background in Traction and Rolling Stock.Understanding of rail terminal operations.HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.Chartered Engineer status preferred.Completed Foundation Safety Management course.
