Maths Teacher
A specialist school in Chessington for pupils aged 9 to 19 with a wide range of abilities and additional needs, including complex autism, is seeking to appoint a dynamic, resilient, and innovative Teacher of Maths.
The successful candidate will be passionate about Maths education and dedicated to delivering engaging, creative, and differentiated lessons that inspire confidence, independence, and achievement in every learner.
Located on a spacious green site in Chessington within the Royal Borough of Kingston, the school offers a calm and nurturing learning environment with excellent facilities designed to support both academic and personal development. These include extensive indoor and outdoor sports facilities, specialist vocational learning spaces, sensory and therapeutic provision, and a dedicated pupil support team offering a range of therapies and interventions.
With small class sizes, a strong pastoral ethos, and excellent staff-to-pupil ratios, teachers are able to build meaningful relationships with students and tailor learning to meet individual academic, social, emotional, and communication needs. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality and engaging Maths lessons that promote excellent progress, attainment, and outcomes for all learners.
- Plan and adapt learning to meet a diverse range of educational, behavioural, sensory, and communication needs.
- Support students in developing confidence, independence, resilience, and a positive attitude towards learning.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports both academic and emotional development.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, pastoral teams, parents/carers, and external professionals to ensure pupils receive a holistic and consistent approach to support.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience teaching Maths to secondary-aged students, ideally within SEN, mainstream, or alternative provision settings.
- Experience delivering recognised Maths qualifications and accreditations.
- A strong understanding of the National Curriculum and current developments within Maths education.
- The ability to differentiate effectively and adapt teaching approaches to support a wide range of learning needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive and professional relationships across the school community.
- A patient, flexible, and nurturing approach, alongside strong behaviour management skills.
- A genuine commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and improving outcomes for children and young people with additional needs.
