Head Baker

As a Head Baker you will oversee all aspects of bread, pastry, and dough production. This includes recipe development, production scheduling, quality control, inventory management, and staff training. The ideal candidate is both creative and detail-oriented, with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of artisan baking techniques. Contract is for 48 hours per week.Key Responsibilities:Plan, prepare, and bake a variety of breads, pastries, and specialty baked goodsDevelop and refine recipes to ensure exceptional flavor, texture, and presentationManage daily baking schedules to meet production targets and deadlinesSupervise, train, and mentor bakery staff to maintain high standards and efficiencyMonitor quality control, ensuring all products meet company specificationsMaintain proper inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, minimizing wasteEnsure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standardsCollaborate with management on seasonal menus, specials, and product innovationOperate and maintain bakery equipment safely and efficientlyQualifications:Minimum 2 years of professional baking experience, including artisan breads and pastriesPrevious leadership or supervisory experience in a bakery or kitchen settingStrong knowledge of dough fermentation, shaping, and baking techniquesAbility to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environmentExcellent organizational and time-management skillsCreativity and passion for baking innovationStrong communication and leadership skillsFlexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed
